Pan Am: A Style Crush

And here's why:

I'm going to re-create this polka dot dress or die trying

The dress I'm focusing on here is the one in the foreground, with the long sleeves and pointed midriff section. The girl wearing it just whisks around the corner and out of sight before the main characters appear, so this is the best shot I could manage. I just love it.

All screen shots captured by me.

Leopard print maxi skirt

I've been spending more time with my good friend Leo Pard lately.

This was made with McCalls 4245. I'm not sure if it's available any more, but I'm pleased that a pattern I've had for quite a few years now can still look so good.

Alterations (of course): not many. In fact, only one. The skirt has a handkerchief hem, which I just filled out to a regular hemline. Apart from that, I actually followed the pattern.

I love this pattern because it has no waistband, just facing. Very comfortable.

I love the fullness of this skirt. I actually found this material in an op-shop for $11, and I knew immediately what I wanted to turn it into.

Hooray for leo-pard!

The red shoes

They will be mine, oh yes, they will be mine... about 10 working days.

Both from ModCloth.

Oops! I bought an entire outfit by mistake

Well, they probably shouldn't all be worn together. But technically, it's enough to make an outfit.

I was really only planning to look for shoes. The rest just kind of happened.

Shoes from Target. Blouse, cardigan & hat all from Jay Jay's. Jeans from Sportsgirl.

(Very snooty little salesgirl in Sportsgirl, by the way. Made a very obvious Those Jeans Are A Mistake face at me. I will go back there one day WEARING the SIZE TEN jeans and wave my big bottom in her face.)

Molly's morning snack

I'm only putting these up because the last picture cracks me up every time.

Molly chews on everything. Curtains, wrapping paper, ribbons, grass, plastic bags if I'm not watching..

Bleh! She's a lovable idiot.

The best flowers...

...are the kind received for no reason.

I am lucky.
